Holy Land Tour ~ Aksaray to Konya

Our final morning in Cappadocia was greeted with multitudes of hot-air balloons in the sky. The sight was amazing though it was not fully visible to the naked eye.

A caravanserai was a roadside inn where travelers (caravaners) could rest and recover from the day’s journey. The Sultan Han is a 13th century surviving caravanserais built throughout the Seljuk Empire in the town of Sultanhani, Aksaray Province.

This structure has a huge interior courtyard with a Square stone kiosk-mosque in the middle. Exploring this fortified structure makes one question the amazing foresight of the Syrian architect in the 1200s and the stonework of stonemasons.
